Analysis of reasonability of clinical use of folk medicine in the Third affiliated hospital of Beijing university of Chinese medicine

Abstract:Objective: To understand the clinical application of folk medicine in our hospital from 2013 to 2015, summarize the commonly used folk medicines in our hospital, and analyze the rationality of their use in clinic considering the clinical characteristics of our hospital to guide the scientific use of folk medicine in the future. Methods: Taking defined daily dose (DDD), DDDs (DDDs), and defined daily cost (DDC) as the evaluation index, the use of the top 20 folk medicines in amount of money in our hospital during 2013-2015 were analyzed. Results: The top 20 folk medicines were mostly drugs for topical bone injury, encephalopathy and gastrointestinal diseases.The amount of money of the drugs remained stable for three years, and the amount of money and the number of patients synchronized well. Conclusion: Folk medicines are widely used in orthopedics,encephalopathy and spleen and stomach diseases, and their clinical application is basically reasonable.
